Driver Recruiter ( CDL Class A )

RoadStar is a family-owned established trucking company that has been in business for over 25 years. Our new terminal in Clayton Ohio is a fast-growing terminal dedicated to providing exceptional service and building a strong team of professional drivers. As we scale our fleet and operations, we're lookign for a driver, experienced "Driver Recruiter" who is familiar with sourcing Class A CDL drivers and knows the ins and outs of hiring commercial drivers and retaining them. This person would need to be ready to roll up their sleeves to support broader administrative needs as well. 

This person will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and hiring qualified drivers to fill open truck seats, and will play a critical role in ensuring our fleet stays fully staffed and operational. The ideal candidate brings strong recruiting experience in the trucking or logistics industry and is willing to take on additional administrative tasks to support the day-to-day needs of a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source, screen, and hire CDL Class A drivers to fill empty trucks quickly and efficiently.

• Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified driver candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, cold outreach, and industry contacts.

• Conduct phone screenings, manage interviews, coordinate onboarding, and ensure DOT and company compliance.

• Track and manage applicant data using recruiting software or spreadsheets.

• Develop and maintain relationships with driving schools, training programs, and referral networks.

• Monitor driver retention and provide feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.

• Assist with various administrative tasks such as fleet scheduling, compliance tracking, permit renewals, and general office support.

• Represent the company with professionalism and positivity to attract high-quality drivers.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience recruiting CDL Class A drivers (2+ years strongly preferred).

• Deep understanding of FMCSA/DOT regulations and driver qualification requirements.

• Strong sourcing skills using a variety of platforms (Indeed, Tenstreet, Facebook, etc.).

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.

• Comfortable wearing multiple hats and pitching in with operations as needed.

• Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) or CRM software is a plus.
